It consists of the OT Observation Scale (O Scale) and the Social Adaptive Function Scale (S Scale). We attempted to examine its criteria-related and concurrent validity by asking OTRs to rate 184 patients in 13 psychiatric hospitals using ASPOT. Grouping the patients according to age, inpatient/outpatient, length of stay in hospitals, and severity of symptoms, we found the differences in the scores of ASPOT between the groups that were generally consistent with our hypotheses. Further, we found significant correlations between O scale and COTE and between S scale and the Care Assessment for Psychiatric Patients. The correlations were particularly high between the sub-scales measuring the same functions.
