The study is a literature study of 12 previous pertinent studies of such inpatients. After categorizing the contents of previous studies by countermeasure, they were divided into the following six categories: 1) understanding the factors of leaving without permission, 2) understanding changes in and thoughts toward pathology, 3) creating good relationships, 4) sharing information between staff and within the region, 5) standardization of nursing procedures, and 6) the use of tools. With the exception of 6), all categories are congruent with the\ncountermeasures for preventing inpatients from leaving the hospital without permission as stated by literature specializing in mental risk management. We confirmed that the preceding research has studied countermeasures that are grounded in a mental risk management perspective.
