We commenced practical initiatives in various fields of regional development, education, and research using resources from both sides. Thus, in this article, we will introduce the initiatives taken by the Department of Physical Therapy and a junior high school for improving physical fitness and prevention of musculoskeletal impairments in junior high school students and clarify the direction of future development. The main initiatives include the following: 1) conducting athletic performance tests, 2) conducting lectures and stretching workshops, 3) performing awareness-raising activities to improve physical fitness and prevention of musculoskeletal impairments, and 4) providing support for health and physical education classes and club activities. As a result of this initiative, the support provided to the junior high school students was quite effective for improving their physical fitness and prevention of musculoskeletal impairments. Additionally, the growth of the university students involved in the initiative was a major achievement.
